Armenia

“Khachkar”, Armenian meaning “cross-stone” is a carved memorial stone of Armenian origin. The characteristic of this medieval Christian Armenian art appeared in the 9th century, and more than 40,000 Khachkars are still free standing, mostly in Armenia. The craftsmanship of Khachkar survived throughout history by passing the skills from master to apprentice. Through sets of skills combined with deep attachment and extreme sense of belonging to Armenian roots, YEPREM decided to revive Khachkars by introducing it to the world as a piece of jewelry, made of gold and diamonds, that stands for Armenia as the first Christian nation; the nation that survived the genocide. The Khachkar bracelets all have pomegranates that symbolize fertility and abundance in Armenian mythology. Furthermore, these bracelets come in different backgrounds, all of which preserve the Armenian heritage and culture. To name a few, some come with the Armenian alphabet, others with the famous quote of William Saroyan “I should like to see the power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia. See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread and water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a new Armenia.” Anyone wearing Khachkar bracelets by YEPREM will experience the exuberant feeling of carrying what all our ancestors fought and died for: the pride of being Armenian! YEPREM believes that the basis of the Armenian culture is the Armenian schools; therefore, 5% of all proceeds of Khachkar will be invested in building solid foundations for the Armenian schools.
